Crochet Backpack Pattern
Be ye warned… this crochet backpack pattern is a big time investment! Excuse my cheesiness, I just felt like talking like a pirate. Probably because I watched the “Muppet Treasure Island” with my kids last night. However I think it’s totally worth it, especially if you have lots of yarn remnants laying around that need to be put to good use. You know how we’re always talking about saving money here at Modern Homemakers and this project is no exception. I only spent a couple bucks on the whole project. I have found bookbags on sale for as low as $7-$10 before, but they’re a very low quality and rarely do they survive more than a year.

I’ve even had to replace a backpack partway through the semester which is super annoying. This bookback is not built to handle giant textbooks, so if you’re hauling around tons of supplies every day (middle school – college student) this bag might not meet your needs. My younger daughter used the pink version all last year and it’s still in great condition so we’re using it again this year, but the first and last day of school make the bag look pretty ridiculous as the straps slide half way down their back and they stagger under the weight 🙂 It works just fine for day to day use of a couple of notepacks and a lunch pack, however which is all my elementary aged children need. Are you making any of your kids school supplies this year?
